You will find that the Zen people are quite divided on this.They will say
你會發現修禪的人會給出截然不同的答案他們可能說:
'No we dont believe literally in reincarnation.That after your funeral
“不,我們完全不相信輪迴。不可能你的葬禮剛結束
you will suddenly become somebody different
你就突然變成了
living somewhere else.'
在某處新生的活生生的人”
They will say

'Reincarnation means this:
“輪迴意味著
that if you sitting here now are really convinced that youre the same person who walked in at the door half an hour ago
你堅信現在坐在此處的你和半小時前走進這扇門的你完全相同
youre being reincarnated.If youre liberated
那你就是相信輪迴的
youll understand that that youre not.The past doesnt exist.The future doesnt exist.There is only the present and thats the only real you that there is.'
而如果你已然醒悟那你就會明白事實截然相反過去並不存在未來並不存在唯一切實存在的只有當下和真正的你
The Zen master Dogen put it this way
禪師道元是如此解釋的
he said
他說
'Spring does not become the summer.First there is spring and then there is summer'
春天不是變成夏天的。而是先是春天,然後才到夏天。
T.S. Elliot has the same idea in his poem 'The Four Quartets'
托馬斯·艾略特在他的詩《四個四重奏》中也有相同的概念
where he says
他寫道:

this comes into Zen—a master will say to somebody
就像禪師對某人說
'Get up and walk across the room!'

and he comes back and the master says 'Where are your footprints?'
那個人走了回來禪師問他:'你的足跡在哪裡呢? ’
Theyve gone.So where are you?Who are you?When were asked who we are
它們消失了。所以”你在哪裡?你是誰?“這樣的問題
we usually give a kind of recitation of a history
我們通常只能給出背誦歷史一般的答案。
